The way secondary students will be assessed

After much speculation, the government finally decided on the assessment of secondary students. Wednesday (October 21) at 12 noon, the Minister of Education. Dipu Moni announced the government’s decision on secondary in a virtual press conference.

Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that there will be no annual examination this year. The education minister said the annual examination of secondary level students has been canceled. NCTB has formulated a new syllabus to promote from sixth to ninth class to the next class. In light of this, assignments will be given to the students. It will be promoted to the next class of secondary level students through assessment.

Dipu Moni further said that four assignments from the syllabus prepared by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) have to be completed within a month. This syllabus will be sent to the heads of all the institutions of the country through NTCT. It will be conveyed to the students through the teachers. Students will be able to submit assignments online or in a notebook.

All educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 16 due to the ongoing epidemic of Coronavirus. Although classes are being taken online and on television at the moment. Under such circumstances, this year’s Primary Education Completion (PEC), Ibtedayi Completion (EEC), Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Entry Certificate (JDC) and Higher Secondary (HSC) examinations have been canceled.

As all the educational institutions of the country have been closed for 6 consecutive months, there has been uncertainty about the annual examination. According to the latest announcement, the educational institution will remain closed until October 31.

There are plans not to take annual exams in schools this year. Instead, there are plans to evaluate students in an alternative way and promote them to the next class. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has almost finalized the decision to pass the pre-primary and primary level children to the next class without any examination.

This year’s HSC exams have recently been canceled due to the ongoing epidemic. The results of JSC and SSC will be determined by the average of the results of this year’s HSC.
