For the first time, the Secondary Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination has been held under PSC and many people have no idea about its viva. Rabiul Alam Luipa, BCS General Education Cadre Officer (Lecturer, Gurudayal Government College, Kishoreganj) writes about the post of
‘Assistant Teacher’ of Government Secondary School (MCQ). Only candidates who have passed the examination can take part in the oral examination. The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the schedule of an oral examination of 2,792 out of 7,171 candidates. The date of the oral examination of other candidates will also be announced in phases.
Although all types of cadre and non-cadre vivar preparation under PSC are close, many questions may be asked about the general system as well as the education system and subject-based (subject teaching subject knowledge) of the candidates in the post of ‘Assistant Teacher’ in government secondary schools. In this case, viva preparation can be taken in two parts:
1. Knowledge of education and post-related issues in Bangladesh
. Personal information and general knowledge
1. Education system of Bangladesh: three tier education system of Bangladesh, education management and medium, educational institutions of different levels, education policy formulated at different times, beginning of National Education Policy 2010, Ministry of Education and its functions, departments under Ministry of Education [such as Department of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSI)). , Department of Inspection and Audit (DIA), National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Bangladesh Bureau of Education Information and Statistics (BANBASE, etc.), Name of the present Minister, Deputy Minister, Secretary and Director General of the Ministry of Education, Training Institutions under the Ministry of Education (e.g. National Academy of Education Management (NAEM), Teacher Training Center (TTC), Higher Secondary Teacher Instructors Institute (HSTTI), Field Level Offices of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (e.g. Deputy Director’s Office, District Education Office, Upazila Secondary Education Office), past and present steps taken by the Government of Bangladesh in the field of education, amount allocated in the national budget for education, literacy rate in Bangladesh, etc. Besides, ‘Why do you want to come into the teaching profession?’ Or ‘Is there any inconsistency in the education system of Bangladesh?’ Or ‘What steps need to be taken for the development of the education sector?’ – such technical questions may be asked. Technical questions give an idea of the candidate’s point of view. So the answer to such a question must be positive and tactful. Note down the literacy rate in Bangladesh. Knowledge of the subject related to the post: Must have a basic idea about the subject related to the 12 categories mentioned in the notification. Although the non-cadre viva board of BCS and General Corps does not have a subject specialist, the ‘assistant teacher’ viva may have a subject-specific specialist. In that case, there may be questions from the syllabus of the honors and masters you have read, the name of the course, the basic knowledge of the subject (e.g. the name of the father of the subject), the content of the secondary level book consistent with your subject. Since you are going to be hired as a teacher, you may also be asked to give a two-minute lecture on the subject of teaching on the Viva Board.

You need to know information about your educational institution (date of establishment, name of the head of the institution, famous alumni, etc.) and details about your district (year of establishment, naming, famous person, places of interest, district liberation war events and heroic freedom fighters, etc.). Usually, all viva starts with Introduce yourself question. This question verifies your personal information as well as your Bengali and English accent.
General Knowledge: In any oral examination, current events, history of the country, constitution, and various types of general knowledge are verified. Preparation for this part of the oral exam is not possible in one day; Life-acquired knowledge, school-college textbooks, and job preliminary and written exam preparation are very useful here.
♦ Introduce yourself, Introduce your district, Your todays journey from home to BPSC, Your last night activities, etc. The English skill of the candidate is verified by asking questions. In addition, the translation of any sentence may be asked. So it is better to prepare in advance for questions and answers in Bengali as well as English.
ইংরেজি Know the English, Bengali, and Arabic dates of Vivar Day in advance. If Vivar Day is a special day, keep an eye on its background and formality. Take a look at the newspaper in the morning before leaving. Try to find out details about recent or important events.

Although the pass number in Viva is 40 percent (50 marks in total), those who are a little behind in the written test of the MCQ system (200 marks) will be able to put themselves ahead overall if they can secure 50 marks with Viva with a little study and awareness.
